If you chose a cable modem, then wait for the status light on the modem to turn into a solid color which could take up to 10 minutes. If you notice your modem rebooting severally, don’t panic as it’s a normal occurrence during installation. Once the status light turns solid effectively, it’s time to connect the modem to your PC using an Ethernet cable. However, if the connection isn’t successful, then switch off the modem by pressing the power button or by unplugging t from the power outlet and then wait for at least 2 minutes and try again. Once the connection has been established, connect the PC using an Ethernet cable and then turn it on. You should now be able to go ahead and activate it.

Gateway Self-installation

A Cox Gateway comes with both wireless & wired connection options. Wait for the internet connection to be established, the WiFi lights to stop flashing, and the color to turn solid before continuing. This could take between 5 to 10 minutes and in that period; the Gateway could reboot severally which is normal. Once the lights turn into a solid color, your Gateway is ready for use. You should now be able to wireless connect your PC or smartphone to the network and activate it.

The equipment comes with the default network name & key which in case you can’t find it, check the device’s label. Once you find the information, on the Wi-Fi settings on your PC or phone, enter these details and you should be good to go.
