It’s said that good things come in small well-designed packages. The Netgear n750 and n900 are sleek well-designed routers that are capable of great speeds and excellent range.
I have been using my router for a while now, but it’s giving me problems especially when it comes to penetrating through some of the walls in my house. A friend advised me to get a Netgear N router because of their excellent range and speed so I came across the n750 and n900 Netgear routers. The Netgear n750 and n900 are both dual-band N routers that can deliver decent wifi speeds with decent wireless coverage. The n900is capable of theoretical speeds of 450 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands simultaneously and with no less than 6 antennas your network will receive a huge boost in range coverage. On the other hand, the n750 supports maximum speeds of 450 Mbps on its 5 GHz band for high wireless speeds and uses a 3×3 stream standard that you will find in most high-end routers, and 300 Mbps on its 2.4 GHz band that also works effectively.
N900 is a better performer with higher wireless speeds on both bandwidths and excellent range coverage.
Design
The Netgear n750 and n900 have a similar squared-off shape sleek design, however, the n750 comes with a detachable stand so the router can work in a vertical or horizontal position and you can also mount it on your wall. As for the n900, the base isn’t detachable so it can only operate in a vertical position and you can’t mount it on your wall.
N750 has a better design as you can remove the detachable stand so it can lie on the shelf or stand.
USB ports
The other difference is n750 only has one USB 2.0 port to host your external hard drive while the n900 comes with 2 USB 2.0 ports to share with your printers and external storage drives. The routers can handle USB drives that have been formatted with NTFS and FAT32 and its USB ports can provide enough power to use with a bus-powered hard drive.
N900 has more USB 2.0 ports that can handle more hard drives and printers.
Features
Both routers use all the wireless encryption methods for security, but the n900 also supports IPv6 which is the new version of internet protocol that has replaced IPv4.
N900 has better features that make the router more efficient to use.
