Do 4G Phones Support A 5G Network?
The development and deployment of 5G took off at a rather slow pace, back on 3rd April 2019, and with it came discomfort and confusion by individuals who were keen on the technologies. The major concern then was whether the older version 4G phones would support the 5G network, but if we are to remain objective about the transition, it would be hard to quickly phase out the 4G phones given the speed with which 5G was being implemented.
Remember that 5G was first introduced in parts of Minneapolis and Chicago, and individuals in these two cities were the first ones to use the 5G enabled Smartphone’s, which were also connected to a 5G network. Now what most people don’t understand is that 5G is not replacing the 4G network technologies, and as a matter of fact they will coexist and work together, before the full transition that is not yet foreseen is implemented.
In essence, therefore, is that the 4G phones will still work on the 5G networks, but users shouldn’t expect to get the speeds and other benefits that come with using a 5G smartphone on a 5G network.
Benefits of using 5G phones on 5G network
Netizens struggle with the internet speeds, mainly when it comes to downloads and uploads including coverage, to which end there have been many devices developed to specifically cater to this. So what 5G brings to the table are faster speeds, at least when compared to what 4G offers, and what does that mean to the internet user, well that the download and upload process will be almost instant.
Well, such high speeds are meant to encourage productivity, faster interaction with clients over the various social networking platforms, and real-time footage transmissions of the various processing and quality control processes in factories for the perfect end product.
5G comes with massive capacity when it comes to multiple devices being connected to one network, let’s take the example of a router, which as we all know can handle a specific amount of users, and if more are added then the devices connected experience delays and some can barely connect to the internet. What’s more, there is the prioritizing feature, where the router owners, can prioritize bandwidth allocation; the above are some of the things that 5G is here to get rid of.
5G will, therefore, accommodate more devices, in a network with zero to minimal hiccups. Important to realize, however, is that the deployment of 5G is not yet conclusive, the above then means that smartphone users might experience problems connecting to 5G and will at some point have to revert to 4g. In much simpler terms is that when a device is in close proximity to the 5G towers, it will be super fast, but when they are not close to the 5G towers then they will have to utilize the 4G technology.

4G Networking Technology
Most people are still operating under the 4G Technology, and which we must say offers faster speeds, has a higher bandwidth, which enables faster transmission of data. What’s more, is that with the 4G technology people get to enjoy uninterrupted connectivity. The technology also offers lower latency and higher spectrum efficiency.
4G came into play back in 2009 and was first implemented in Stockholm, Oslo, Norway, and Sweden, so between 2009 and 2019 people relied heavily on 4G given its benefits. And because of the above, the 3G technology has subsequently been rendered redundant with Sprint currently planning to shut down its 3G network in December of 2022. Most operators are surely but slowly killing off the 3G technology, as they prepare to fully embrace 5G.
Let us, however, not be quick to forget that 4G took almost 10years before it penetrated a larger part of the telecommunication industry, but due to the current speed of innovation and growth in technology, 5G might take a shorter time before it is widely adopted around the world after all most carriers worldwide are quickly implementing the 5G Technology.
Conclusion
The major significance of introducing the 5G technology is because it has been determined to be energy efficient, and greatly helps reduce maintenance costs. 4G phones are still relevant and can support a 5G network especially in areas where the 5G towers are not in close proximity. So as it is now we are still absorbing 5G but the smart heads are already thinking of 6G which as word on the ground has it, will be the advent of automated cars, cellular surfaces, and Wi-Fi implants.
