Changing the Channel on your Linksys Router

Are you having trouble connecting your device to your router and are trying to change your router channel for better connectivity? while it may be an easy and direct task, it can also prove challenging. So, why can’t you change your channel, and how should you go about changing it?

When using the internet constantly, one of the biggest problems that most people encounter is interference. Usually, it is as a result of crowding on one channel, and the best way to deal with such an issue is to change the channel to one that does not support too many devices. However, you may experience trouble changing the channel; an aspect that can be frustrating. So, why is it that you cannot change the channel on your Linksys router? The main reason why you cannot change the channel on your Linksys router is that Super G is enabled. With Super G enabled, you will have trouble changing channels from Channel 6 which it always selects as the default to any other network.

The only way through which you can be able to change the channel on your Linksys router is when Super G is disabled. Below is a detailed method by which you can disable Super G.

How to disable Super G

  • Begin by opening your web browser, and on the search bar, key in the IP address of your access point or router.
  • Once entered, proceed to key in your router’s username or SSID and password. Usually the default SSID is admin, and the default password is blank (do not type in anything in the password field).
  • Find the Advanced tab and, on the left hand side, click on Performance.
  • Go on and find Super G mode, and on the drop down menu, proceed to select Disabled.
  • Finish by clicking Apply, then select Continue to save the new settings.

When you have done this, you will be able to change the channel on your Linksys router with ease. So, how should you go about changing your Linksys router’s channel?
