Cat6 vs. Cat5 Ethernet Cables – Do they use different jacks?

These two Ethernet cables essentially have the same build. They have copper wires in them and they are the ones used for the transmission of data from network sources to the computer and vice versa. The copper wires are twisted in both to ensure low crosstalk.

The two of them actually use the same jack. The reason behind this is that they are both twisted pair cables and can therefore be accommodated by the same device.

The Rj45 Keystone jack is an ideal fit for both cables. Its port is angled at 45 degrees to make the connection easy. It is compatible with both T568A and T568B wiring.
