10 devices that work with Xfinity Home
Xfinity Home works with several devices to guarantee you a secure home even while you’re away. Some of these devices come with your Xfinity Home system while others are third-party smart home devices.
All you need is to pair your compatible smart home device and then be able to control it from the Xfinity Home app. It’s worth noting that for your device to work and for you to be able to control and receive alerts from these devices, you need an internet connection.
Xfinity Home works with third-party smart devices brands such as Chamberlain, Leviton, and Philips to provide you with a number of services such as garage door openers, smart lighting and locks.

The most important devices that work with Xfinity Home
Ten devices work with Xfinity Home. They are listed according to importance.
Touchscreen
The touchscreen is the control center and acts as the system’s main hub which makes it the most important device. Backed up by a cellular connection, the Touchscreen connects all your devices on Xfinity Home and grants you control of Thermostats, cameras, lights, etc.
You can easily navigate through its touch interface where you can arm/disarm your system, change the settings on devices such as Locks. To do so, you’ll need access to your Xfinity Home station or touchscreen controller.
This screen gives you either or both audible and visible alerts once a sensor is triggered when the system is armed or environmental sensors like a smoke detector is armed.
Cameras
Cameras are weather-resistant and come with night vision to keep an eye on your home always even while you’re away. They give you a 24/7 video recording from up to four cameras for your review.
With Live video Monitoring, you’re able to view live videos, take photos, and even create rules to take pictures and videos automatically when a system event occurs. For example, your camera can automatically start recording if your alarm is in Away mode.
The saved videos and photos can be downloaded, shared, or viewed on your Xfinity Home app or subscriber portal. Xfinity Home uses artificial intelligence that can filter the recordings when looking for specific cars or people.
Thermostats
The thermostat works with your Xfinity home to automatically allow you to control your home temperature. You need a thermostat app installed on your Xfinity Home Touchscreen then pair your thermostat from the same touchscreen. This gives you the same controls such as adjusting the thermostat’s settings or troubleshooting it.
Not all thermostats are compatible with Xfinity Home. Only Carrier Cor, ecobee and Zen brand and their respective models are the compatible.
Lighting /Appliance Controllers, Light switches, and outlet controllers
Left home and happen to have left a light on? No need to rush back. Turn off any lights or small home appliances like your coffee pot from your smartphone, PC, or tablet from wherever you are so long as it’s connected to the internet. These devices working with your Xfinity Home will take care of it for you because they give you the power to monitor and control any connected lights and small appliances in your home while you’re away.
There are only three controllers supported by Xfinity Home:
- Lighting/Appliance controller (480W)
- Lighting Controller (300W)
- Outlet controller (480W)
When buying a controller for your Xfinity Home, ensure you check the wattage of the device you intend to control.

Door locks
Door locks come in handy when you’re away from home and you need to let in a worker, loved, or even your dog walker to your house. It allows you to lock or unlock your doors when you’re not home on your online smartphone or laptop.
Xfinity Home works with locks from August, Kwikset, and Yale brands.
Door/Window sensors
A door and Windows sensor monitor your doors and windows and alerts you when they are opened and closed. You can create rules that alert you in real-time via email or text by setting them up using the Xfinity Home app or Subscriber Portal and monitoring the sensors on your Touchscreen. These devices are very important and convenient if you have kids at home and you can also use it to tell when your dog-walker comes and goes.
The windows sensors can help prevent natural occurrences from tampering with your home. They can come to the rescue when for example you’re away when it starts raining and your windows are open. You’ll act on the alert by either coming home or request someone nearby to close it for you.
Motion sensors
Alerts are raised when for instance you have an unexpected movement in your home with the help of a motion sensor. This can help prevent break-ins, for example, if your kitchen is supposed to be empty during the day and there happen to be unexpected movements, then the motion sensors in the kitchen pick these movements up and alert you.
You can also create rules for example to turn on your light at sunset and come home to an already lit home.
Water detectors
Water detectors are crucial in case of a leak or flooding in your home. They save you by detecting and sending your alerts wherever you are on your Xfinity Home app or Subscriber Portal.
These detectors can be placed in key areas such as the laundry room, kitchen or near a water heater to catch any water leakages early and alert you.
Wireless keypads
When you need to perform arming and disarming of an Xfinity Home security system from wherever you are in your house, wireless keypads make it convenient and easy.
Keychain remote
This remote allows you to arm and disarm or check your security systems status from your hand. It comes with a panic button that sends an alarm to the Central Monitoring Station by triggering a loud siren calling your established numbers and if necessary, police assistance in case of intrusion.
It’s worth noting that the Xfinity Home app doesn’t have a panic button.
