How to update the firmware of D-Link DLS-2750U wireless router

Routers like other electronic devices have an operating system that allows them to operate properly. However, just like your phone or PC, you need to keep your router’s software up to date.

 

A router’s software is called firmware and it comes with the router. Also, there are 3rd-party firmware versions that offer more and better features compared to the original firmware. Each router’s model and make has its own firmware specially made for it. Router manufacturers release firmware updates from time to time on the router’s web panel or on their websites that you can download and install. A D-Link DLS-2750U wireless router is no exception.

 

To update the firmware of a D-Link DLS-2750U wireless router, use a PC connected to the router to access the internet and go to D-link’s official website and download your router’s firmware. On your PC, extract the download Zip file and visit the router’s admin panel on the same PC and finally upgrade the firmware.

 

Download the router’s firmware

 

Connect your PC to the internet and open a web browser on your PC. Enter support.dlink.com in the address bar and press the Enter button. Navigate to the products section and click on ‘View All’ to view all the D-Link router models. Check and find the D-Link router model and select the correct version for your router from the drop-down box. The hardware version is marked on a label that can be found on the back or the side of the router. Locate Firmware and click on Download and save the file on your PC. Take note of the download location and click on it. Right-click on the Zip file and select Extract All to extract the Zip file. Once the extraction is complete, a new window will appear with the uncompressed file. Take note of the file location and then go back to the web browser.

 

Login & update firmware

 

Make sure your PC is connected to the D-Link DLS-2750U wireless router and enter 192.168.0.1 in the address bar. Log in using the default credentials admin for both the username and password on routers starting with DSR and leave the password blank on DIR routers. After logging in, click on the Management tab in the top-right corner. From the drop-down menu, select the Upgrade option. On the next screen, click the ‘Select file’ button and locate the extracted .bin file in the extracted file on your PC and click on the file to highlight it. On the prompt window, click on the ‘Open’ button and then click the ‘Upload’ button on the web interface to proceed. When prompted if you want tocontinue with the firmware upgrading process, click on OK. The firmware upgrade process should begin and you should be able to see the upgrade percentage completion. Once the upgrade is complete, the router will restart and you should see the login page.

If the D-Link DLS-2750U wireless router is old, then after logging in, select the Tools tab and click on Firmware from the left-hand side panel. Scroll down and under ‘Firmware Upgrade’, click on the Browse button and locate the .bin file on your PC. To highlight the file, click on it and then click on the Open button on the prompt window. To upload the file, click on Upload and wait for the upgrade to be complete. Once complete, you’ll get a confirmation, click on Continue.
