FiOS TV, a cable service from Verizon offers over 400 channels. The service has some of the best packages for sports fans, Spanish packages, premium, and international channels. The service offers its mobile users an app called the FiOS TV app allowing them not to miss any action when away. However, if you want to catch all the action on a bigger screen, then you need to do so from your TV. To stream content from FiOS TV, itrequires a FiOS TV subscription. If you have a Roku streaming device at home, then you can stream FiOS TV on it without cable. Unfortunately, the FiOS TV channel isn’t available on the Roku channel store.
However, you can stream FiOS TV on Roku connected TV by mirroring the app from a smartphone. This process might seem cumbersome for some, but don’t worry, we will guide you through it step-by-step.
Streaming FiOS TV on Roku
As mentioned earlier, the FiOS TV channel isn’t available on the channel store but we can still go ahead and stream its content on a Roku connected TV. First, make sure that your Roku device is switched on and connected to your TV. Once your Roku device is fully turned on and connected to the WiFI network, enable Screen mirroring on it by going to Settings, select ‘Screen Mirroring’, then click on ‘Mirroring Mode’ and choose ‘Always allow’. This is because will need this feature to successfully mirror content to the Roku connected TV. We will be mirroring the FiOS app content from a casting device, so make sure that you connect Roku and the casting device to the same WiFi network.
If you are using an Android device as your casting device, open the Google Play Store app on the device, search for FiOS TV and install the app on the device. Once the installation is done, go to Settings on the same device and select ‘Device connections’ or ‘connection settings’ depending on your Android device. Again depending on the device model, select ‘Cast, Multi-screen or Smart view’ and turn on the feature by toggling the button. A list of devices will appear. Find and select your Roku device from the list. Next, open FiOS TV that you previously installed on your android, sign in, and then play any content on it. Check and confirm that the content you just played appears on your Roku connected TV.
If you have an iPhone or iPad, open the App Store and search for the FiOS TV. Tap on the ‘Get’ button to install it. While the app is installing, tap on the back arrow to go back to the previous screen and then search for ‘Mirror for Roku’. From the search results, look for the one by Airbeam TV and then tap on ‘Get’ to install the app. Upon complete installation of both apps, open the Mirror for Roku app on your iOS device, and from the list of available devices, select your Roku streaming device. Next, you will be prompted to open the Mirror for Roku channel on your Roku streaming device. If you have the channel already, then open it, otherwise you will be redirected to the channel store to add the channel. When redirected, click on ‘+ Add channel’ to install the Mirror for Rokuchannel on your Roku device. Now, back to the Mirror for Roku app on your iOS device, once again, choose your Roku streaming device from the list, and then tap on ‘Allow Notifications’ to continue. Next, on your iOS device, tap on the ‘Start Mirroring’ icon, and then on your Roku, click on ‘Start Broadcast’ to mirror your iOS device screen on your Roku device. Open FiOS on iPhone/iPad and play any video then check if the content appears on the Roku connected TV and is audible.
