There are various ways to get information with the old school method being via a cable provider on your TV. One of the most consistent channels for catching up with your daily news, sports, weather, and much other content is WGN America.

World’s Greatest Newspaper (WGN) is a popular channel based in Chicago, Illinois. The channel is owned by Nexstar Media Group and offers additional content like TV shows, drama series, comedy, and many more. The best thing about the channel, it doesn’t require a subscription, and to access its content, all you need is a live TV or cable provider. For Roku streaming device owners, you can also catch your favorite programs on WGN on Roku.

Unfortunately, the WGN app is no longer available on the Roku Channel Store. Despite this, you can still stream WGN on Roku. We’ll show you how to do it step-by-step.

How to stream WGN on Roku

WGN used to be a standalone channel available on Roku channel store for years until recently when it was removed from the store due to some reasons. However, this doesn’t stop one from still catching up with their favorite content on the channel. You need to cast the WGN app to your Roku streaming player.  Before doing so, setup your Roku by connecting the Roku streaming device and to your TV using a HDMI cable and turn the both on. Next, ensure that the Roku and the casting device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Also, on Roku, set the screen mirroring mode to ‘Allow always’ before continuing. To add and stream WGN on Roku:

Android

On your Android device, open the Google Play store, search for the WGN-TV app and install it. While installing, open the Settings app on the same device and select ‘connection Settings/Device connection’ depending on the device model and software version. From the menu, tap on the ‘Cast/Wireless display/Smart view’ toggle button and then select your Roku device from the list of available devices. Once the WGN-TV installation is complete, open the app and login to WGN TV using your credentials. You can now stream shows or the Live channel from your Android device and it will apear on your TV screen.

iOS

For Apple users, from your iOS device, go to the App Store and search for the ‘WGN-TV’ app and tap on the ‘Get’ button to install it. While the app is installing, go back and search for the ‘Mirror for Roku’ app and from the results, select the one by AirbeamTV and install it too. Once both apps are done with installation, open the Mirror for Roku app and from the list, choose your Roku streaming device. When rpompted to launch the ‘Mirror for Roku’ channel on the ROku device, add the channel if you dont have it already installed on ROku. To install it, click on the ‘+ Add Channel’ button and once its done installing, click on ‘Go to Channel’ to launch it. If prompted, select your Roku streaming device once more and then tap on ‘Allow Notifications’. Next, on the same screen, tap on the ‘Start Mirroring’ icon and then tap on ‘Start Broadcast’ to begin the broadcasting. On your iOS device, open the WGN-TV app and play any video. The view should now appear on your Roku device.

AT&T

If you have an AT&T TV subscription, then click on the home button on your Roku remote to go to the home screen. Next, click on ‘Streaming Channels’ and then tap on ‘Search Channels’ on the next screen. In the search bar, type in ‘AT&T TV’ and select the AT&T TV app from the results. On the app page, click on the ‘+ Add Channel’ button to install the app. After the installation process is done, click on ‘Go to Channel’ to open the app. Sign in to AT&T TV, look for the WGN channel and start streaming.

You can also use other streaming services other than AT&T TV to watch the WGN channel on Roku. These other streaming services includeFubo TV, YouTube TV, HULU, Sling TV and TVision.
