Cisco 9200 vs Cisco 9300- How do they compare

Different stack technology

Using the StackWise -160 technology, Cisco allows for stacking of the models within the 9200 series. However, the 9300 series stacking is enabled StackWise-480 tech which allows for a stacking bandwidth of 480Gbps. This is quite pretty impressive, making the 9300  stacking technology better by miles.

Performance

The Cisco 9200 models are designed to deliver bandwidth performance reaching 128 Gbps – 176 Gbps, with 190.4 Mpps- 261.9 Mpps forwarding rates. Alternatively, the 9300 models are equipped with far greater switching rates including 208 Gbps – 640 Gbps bandwidth performance with 154.76 Mpps – 476.19 Mpps forwarding rates. Based on switching capacity alone, the 9300 models are better equipped to deliver higher switch capacity and forwarding rates.

Fixed Uplink model

Both the Cisco 9200 and 9300 feature a fixed uplink model. These are designated with an L within their respective SKUs: 9200L and 9300L. The fixed uplink models are designed to offer quality Cisco catalyst 9K features and capabilities in smaller scale environments.

Cisco 9200 Vs. Cisco 9300- A comparison review

Cisco Catalyst 9200

The Cisco Catalyst 9200 is a highly functional, yet simple series of Switches which can be utilized to extend network power with innovative hardware and software inclusions. Cisco describes this line as a series of Switches offering simplicity without compromise in security/performance.

Features

The Cisco 9200 models are devised for optimal switching capabilities: with various contingencies set up to ensure your network is always up and running. In fact, the unparalleled resiliency these devices deliver on to an operation, coupled with access capabilities makes the Catalyst 9200 a good option for branch-office deployment/access.

Moreover, the models on this series are enabled with fixed or modular uplink configurations. Modular SKU’s on the modular uplink models provides users the infrastructure for migration to 10G from 1G without disruptions. The collection also features two field replaceable power supplies, and each model ships with a default power supply. This in addition to the intelligent Power over Ethernet plus are

Stacking on the Cisco 9200 series is enabled on various models on the collection. They are designed as a single virtual switch and allow users to access up to 384 port on a unified management plane. While the fixed modular link models are enabled with the Cisco SwackWise-80, which supports 80GBps worth of stacking bandwidth, the Modular uplink models with StackWise-160 allows for stacking bandwidth of 160Gbps. Unfortunate, mixed stacking is not possible access modular and fixed uplink models.

Resiliency and Redundancy are important features especially on high demand, top tier business networks. Many 9200 features work together to improve the resiliency and redundancy within their operation.

C9200-24P

The Cisco 9200 has a modular uplink configuration and FRU redundant fan and power supply.  They help provide high resilience levels to keep the network seamless. The power over Ethernet ports provider 370w available power when running on its primary power supply. Like all other Cisco 9200 models in the series, this switch can be stacked to a single virtual switch. This enables you to have one control/management plane. It is enabled with 128Gbps switching capacity, and 95.23Mpps forwarding performance on a 64-byte packet standard.

The switch has layer two and layer 3 switching capabilities allowing for advanced network security with routing access, advanced QoS among other intelligent services.  The switch is designed with various automation mechanisms including granular visibility, software upgrade/patching, APi driven configuration and automated provisioning. Together, they create an extensible, open, standard based automation solution for the network.
