Pandora is a great streaming service available for free or with a subscription to unlock premium features. The app, however, consumes data that doesn’t come cheap.
Pandora is one of the most popular streaming services in the US. It can be addictive leaving one to wonder, how much data does the app consume? This is important especially for someone out of an unlimited data network and uses cellular data or Wi-Fi with a data cap. One of the ways to watch your Pandora data consumption is by determining how much data it uses to avoid being caught off guard.
To calculate Pandora radio data usage on phone, go to your phone’s settings and check the app’s data consumption over a specific period of time. You can then divide the amount by the specific time period you wish to calculate the app’s data usage.
Pandora is a popular streaming app found on the web and on both Apple and Android phones. It allows its users to listen to the music they love by analyzing one’s preferred music and adding it to their list. If you use the Pandora app more, you’ll most likely consume more data. Pandora’s music comes with different playback quality with the higher sound quality consuming more data compared to a lower quality.

How to calculate Pandora data usage
- Android
To check Pandora’s data consumption on your Android phone, open Settings on your phone, select ‘Wireless & Networks’, and then select ‘Data Usage’. Go under the ‘Mobile’ section and tap on ‘App data usage’ or ‘cellular data usage by app’ to continue. From the top of the screen, you can adjust the time period by tapping on the inverted arrow and then scroll down through the list and select Pandora. You should then be able to see how much data the app has consumed over a certain period of time. TO find out how much data the app consumes for say a day, you can find the data consumed for a month and divide that number by the number of days. For example, if Pandora consumed 500 MB in the month of February, you can find out how much data the app consumes daily by dividing 500 MB by 28 days. If you wish to go further and find out how much data it consumes per hour, and then divide the daily figure by 24 hours.
- iPhone
On an iPhone, open the Settings app and navigate to Cellular data. Under ‘Cellular’, scroll down through your phone’s app list and select Pandora. The list will have a toggle button next to them. You should see Pandora’s data consumption under its name. This figure is based on the last time you reset your statistics. To find out how long the consumption has taken place, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and you will see the last time the statistics were reset which gives you a clear idea of how much data the app has been consuming. For example, if the last reset was a month ago and the data consumed is 500 MB, you can find out how much data Pandora consumes daily by dividing 500 MB by 30 days if the month has 30 days. After getting this figure, you can go further and divide it by 24 hours to get an average hourly consumption.
