Does Altice Mobile work in Florida?
Examining cell phone coverage in Florida reveals the advantages of the state. Its high population means that network carriers have an easier time setting up more towers due to higher demand, and its flat terrain removes plenty of infrastructural barriers.
Coverage in Florida is great, including the biggest network carriers. However,Altice Mobile does not consider Florida as a key market, so accessing its full benefits will require adjustments from your end. Altice Mobile is based on AT&T and Sprint network infrastructure though, soyou can use it where these two networks have roaming agreements. As the service is still relatively new, information on their plans and service availability is still scarce.

What is Altice Mobile?
The company dates to September 2019, and Altice USA runs the service. Among all MVNOs, Altice is unique because it partially uses its network infrastructure, while the network build-out infrastructure comes from Sprint.
The partnership setup allows Sprint to deploy at least 19,000 small cells that act as the foundation for 5G networks. Altice benefits from the partnership by accessing Sprint’s existing wireless network as they develop and run their core network infrastructure. Other than Sprint, AT&T has a roaming agreement with Altice Mobile, allowing them to offer their services in places where their towers are unavailable, such as Florida.

Other points to note
When you are an Optimum user, you get half the price when using Altice Mobile, regardless of your ZIP code. The upfront payment also reduces by half if you are an Optimum subscriber, which means you pay $10 to access the same service.
Once you sign up for the Altice Mobile service, you cannot switch the plan you choose. Instead, you can acquire an additional line and use it on your device under your account. For a business customer account, you can manage up to 10 lines, while residential customers can manage up to 5 lines.
Regardless of the plan you choose, you can use your device as a mobile hotspot. You can access unlimited international calling and texting add-ons for at least $20. If you want to add international data roaming, text, and data to your plan, you can start at $10 per day or $40 if you want the weekly pass.
The fine print
Unfortunately, the Altice Mobile service has plenty of fine print that you need to note. These include:
- All plans incorporating unlimited data, but the speeds automatically reducing to 2G when you exceed your monthly allowance. At this speed, you cannot do video streaming, and websites will load at slow speeds.
- All plans support mobile hotspots, but it limits the maximum speed to 600Kbps, and video streaming to 480p (about 1 Mbps).
- You can only access the full benefits if you live in areas with Optimum or Suddenlink service, and there is very little information on other states lacking these services (unless you decide to roam).
Some aspects we notice when using Altice Mobile in Florida
- Using the Sprint network showcases Altice Mobile’s full-speed LTE.
- The system enables the manual network selection mode
- You can manually switch between the AT&T and Sprint networks, depending on the coverage strength.
- When using AT&T, the network display is ‘AT&T’, but using Sprint displays it as ‘Altice’
- Wi-Fi calls are functional, and ‘Altice Wi-Fi’ is the network display name
- You cannot port your number to Altice Mobile, since the code is a FL area one.
Conclusion
Although getting Altice Mobile in Florida is a challenging task, you can still access their service throughout the U.S. in other ways; either through AT&T or Sprint.
