The AmpliFi Alien is a mesh router that supports Wi-Fi 6 technology. It is backward compatible with other routers that have the 802.1 1 ac/n/g/a/b standard. Also, it is a mesh ready router that is tri-band with a 2.4 and 5 GHz band that support Wi-Fi 6 and an additional 5 GHz band that supports Wi-Fi 5. It supports the 20, 40 and 80 MHz channel width but does not support the 160 MHz channel width.

It is a slightly large router with a weight of 1.2 Kgs which makes it very sturdy when in use. It is powered by a 2.2 GHz 64-bit quad core central processing unit that optimizes its performance. Additionally, it comes with a touchscreen that indicates the router status and helps you carry out ISP speed tests. Through the AmpliFi mobile app, you are able to manage and control your home network. The mobile app also allows you to repair small fixes on your router when connectivity failures happen. Aside from the mobile app, you can also access the web user interface to help you manage and control your home network.

The AmpliFi Alien Wi-Fi 6 router has four Gigabit LAN ports and one Gigabit WAN port. However, it does not come with a multi-gig network port. Also, it does not support link aggregation and does not come with any USB port so you may not be able to add your storage devices. On the brighter side, you are able to use it as an access point as it supports bridge mode.

The AmpliFi Alien Wi-Fi 6 router does not come with a multi-gig network port therefore your wired connections can only receive throughput speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps.
